Spice it up with POETRY! Get together a group of friends or family and spend an hour sharing, laughing, learning, and loving as you join together in the experience of receiving personal poems.
This is an awesome way to connect with each other while staying socially distant. Just because we are physically apart doesn't mean we can't share in meaningful experiences together! Whether you keep it lighthearted or get deep, you and your group are sure to have a memorable time.
With this option, I will write up to four poems for up to eight people during a 60 to 90 minute session. Your poems can be prompted or unprompted, it's totally up to you! This is your party, your poems - your chance to tap the muses and see what they have to say.

NOTES ON GROUP PARTIES
All group sessions are SAFE SPACES. The point of these GROUP SESSIONS is to allow friends and families to come together and have a chance to share, learn, and grow together through the power of poetry. Poetry is an amazing way to connect through something that is deeply shared but also incredibly personal - the written word. For centuries humans have come together to explore their own worlds through the words that describe someone else's - through poems. By asking us to understand the world through words we haven't chosen but understand, poetry asks and allows us to open our minds and our hearts so that we can see the world in a different way. So that we can see the ways in which something so deeply personal can resonate in the hearts and minds of so many. To see that we're not alone. This is an opportunity to have that same expansive experience but this time with poems that have been inspired by and intuited/written specifically for you and your friends/family. Imagine the power there! Read each other's poems and work together to understand them. See how your friends understand your poem and share with them what you see in theirs. Find new ways of accessing each other through the pathways that poetry provides. By being together to hear the words which inspired each poem, you are each granted a sort of access to the resulting poems which will prove to be meaningful. By spending time together reading and exploring your poems you are actively creating a new type of connection that can allow for a more holistic and empathic way of understanding, and, in turn, caring for one another. |
THE PROCESS:
how it works While no two sessions are the same, in general, these sessions work like this: After everyone arrives (on time), I will take a moment to greet the group. After this initial introduction, we'll jump right into it! The first person/pair will then go ahead and prompt me (or not!). The amount of talk time for prompts depends on how many poems I write during our time together. Please see the PLEASE NOTE section for more details! After the first prompt is shared, I will go ahead and type the first poem. At this point, I will mute myself so that you can carry on with your party while I type away. After the poem is written, I will recite it to the group (if the recipient wishes, of course). I will then move onto the next person/pair and their prompt, etc, until I have written up to four poems for the group in our hour together. After our session ends, I will mail each of you your poem via USPS. Postage is included! |
PLEASE NOTE:
Sessions are conducted via zoom or other preferable video chat app. All attendees must be on time. Sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes depending on a variety of factors (including prompt/talk time, the quickness of the muses, the vibe, etc). Poems take 5-15 minutes to type. PROMPT/TALK TIME 4 poems ≈ 10 minutes talk time 3 poems ≈ 15 minutes talk time 2 poems ≈ 20 minutes talk time ***these are totally variable and only estimates - every session is totally different! for example, if one person only wants to talk for a minute or two, then the rest of the group gets to use the remaining time to themselves. i will keep an eye on the time but in general, timing isn't necessary. MORE INFO: • Session includes up to 8 participants. • Includes up to 4 original typewritten intuited poems. • Postage for all poems is included! • Poems are typed onto your choice of poetry art card. See photos of available designs! Participants will inform me of card choice during the session. • All b&w cards can be hand watercolored for an extra $10. • Extra typewritten copies of poems are available and can be purchased at a later date for $8 ea. |
